Point System
To gain a point for setting the fastest lap of the race, a driver must finish in the top ten. If the driver who set the fastest lap does not finish in the top ten, the fastest lap point is not granted for that race.
Since 1950, many systems for awarding championship points have been utilized. Since 2010, the top ten vehicles in the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships have been awarded points, with the champion receiving 25 points. The drivers and constructors with the most points at the end of the season are declared World Champions. Whether a driver stays with the same team or transfers teams throughout the season, all points scored contribute toward the Drivers' Championship.

Only half of the points stated in the table are awarded to the drivers and constructors if the winner completes less than 75 percent of the race laps. This has only happened five times in the history of the championship, and it had a significant impact on the 1984 season's final standings. The most recent instance was at the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix, when the race was called off after only three laps due to severe rain.
